So, the last time I posted, I was talking about how I didn’t like being the first on the bus?

I arrived at the Willer Travel waiting room in Umeda Sky Building East, and as I walked in the man behind the counter was calling for people bound for Nagoya. That’s me! So I presented myself, and he asked me to quickly board the bus.

“Quickly”? That’s pretty pushy for a Japanese service person, I thought. So I hopped on the bus… and realised.

Everyone is already here?

The bus took off immediately, at 7:04pm. I was certain that the bus was supposed to depart at 7:50pm, so what was the rush? So I checked the reservation email…. and realised that it read 18:50 departure, not 19:50. Means that I held up the other passengers for a whole 14 minutes. WHOOPS. SORRY 🙁

The ride to Nagoya was awesome because there was an on-board theatre. It was only a short trip of approximately 3 and a half hours, but I managed to watch Kung Fu Panda, Japanese dubbed in that time. That was a cute movie, made even funnier by the Japanese dubs. It may have been the first time I stayed sitting in the bus during the rest stop…

Arrived in Nagoya right on time (probably could have been 15 minutes earlier if I wasn’t late), headed into Nagoya Station, dragging my bag along with me. I walked for a while before finding signs pointing to the subway station, so I headed into that. Down multiple flights of stairs… carrying an extremely heavy suitcase. Kept following the signs, and eventually ended up at the Sakuradori line.

Nagoya -> Hisaya Odori (¥200)

Finding my way to the hotel was pretty easy. It was facing Nagoya TV Tower. I could practically feel my brain frying… (not).

Checked in without any major hassles, and went to the room. And wow, what a room. Nothing special, pretty much the same setup as all the (many) other Japanese budget hotels I’ve been in, but after staying in Osaka Teikoku, it was a breath of fresh air. The moment I opened my suitcase, the big Don Quijote filled with dirty clothes (practically everything I brought with me on this trip) popped open.

I think it’s time to finally visit the coin laundry (because this hotel, unlike the last, actually has one).

I dumped all my clothes into the machine, and then put ¥200 into the machine. Dumped some washing liquid into the drum, then noticed the sign (only in Japanese though) saying that the machine automatically adds soap, so one doesn’t need to add their own. Whoops. Now just have to hope that it doesn’t overflow with suds.

I then headed out to the nearest convenience store, which happened to be Daily Yamazaki, and bought a whole bunch of stuff for dinner. A chicken nanban bento (¥398), creamy Hokkaido milk pudding “purin” (¥110), and Peach tea 1L (¥108), as well as a chahan (Japanese fried rice style) onigiri (¥105), and annin tofu (almost essence flavored) jelly (¥127) for breakfast the next morning.

After eating the bento, while catching up on blog posts and transferring photos, I found myself dozing off.

Wait, the clothes in the washing machine!

I headed back, and moved them from the washing machine, to the dryer. Paid ¥200 to dry them off for 1 hour. Went back to my room, and set a timer on my iPhone before falling asleep again. Woke up after one hour, grabbed the clothes and headed back to my room to completely conk out again. Good night 🙂
