After having a stroll through Roppongi, I headed back to Takaido. As I arrived, I received an SMS from Optus telling me the roaming charges on my company phone had reached AUD$250+. Dammit. This is what I get for not thinking this through. I was pretty annoyed, because I figured this wouldn’t have happened if I’d just received my local SIM as planned.

So when I got to Sagawa, and the guy there was having issues with the names not matching, I snapped at him and he gave in (people don’t know how to handle rude customers here – but that’s no excuse).

Now I’m killing time at a popular family restaurant, Gusto, while it pours heavily outside. When Kana gets here, I’ll have to borrow her cellphone to activate my microSIM. Far out, what an ordeal!

#Travelers note: If you buy the Japanese version of the data-only microSIM, ensure you have a fixed line or mobile service to call the activation line from. It won’t accept pay phones and the like. However, if you buy the “Travelers Sim” made for foreigners, there is no activation required (but there is only one connection speed available and it’s only half the speed of what the higher end Japanese one goes at). A reminder once again to ensure you take appropriate care when ordering so that the delivery itself will be hiccup free!

I ordered a Prawn Macaroni Gratin, Belgian Chocolate Parfait, and unlimited drink refill. Whilst not the cheapest meal, I have a lot of time to kill until Kana gets here… Bill came to ¥1066 (Gratin ¥418, Parfait ¥460 and drink ¥208, including tax).

#Travelers note: When there are two numbers, a smaller one with a larger one in brackets – you will be charged the larger amount, as it is the amount including tax.

Until here, then. Meeting a friend tonight for dinner.
